During the years 1966 to 1977, a large group of children attended school in Dundee, South Africa. Some arrived after 1966, others left and did not matriculate at DHS. Some attended other primary schools before entering Dundee High School. Their voices were heard on the sports fields and playgrounds, in the choir and asking intelligent questions in the classrooms. The hostels were abuzz with students from the farming community, Swaziland and elsewhere. Friendships were made, some have stood the test of time, others were forgotten as life went on. That final day....everyone left, followed their dreams, got married, had children and grandchildren....many are now retired... We need to re-connect. Therefore, we are searching for anyone who was in school with us through the years, to invite them to our 50th reunion in Dundee in 2027, and mini reunions in towns, cities and regions throughout the world..

Every Reunion Could Be Our Last

Every reunion should be considered to be the last one as there is no guarantee that another one will be held. So, if you're unsure about attending our 50th reunion in 2027, or possibly think,  "Ag, I'll just wait for the next one", you may want to reconsider.  My unbiased advice is to grab the opportunity with both hands every time it presents itself. The world's changing very fast, we're not getting any younger and tomorrow isn't promised. This might be your last chance to spend quality time with old schoolmates and teachers, and get to take a walk down memory lane.

Memo to our International Residents

The reunion date has been set for September 2027.  We hope this will give our overseas classmates enough time to plan and arrange your travelling, so that you can join us in Dundee.  We would like to have as many classmates as possible, attend this special celebration.

“Age is just a number, but our high school memories are timeless.”

Mini Re-union Strand 2022

When we heard that Hennie Bruyns would be visiting Cape Town, from Windhoek, Lourie Homann  quickly organised a mini re-union

What a wonderful morning was spent together,  filled with laughter, memories and previously untold confessions!!!

These mini re-unions are well worth attending.  We would like to encourage all our classmates to get together whenever possible.

Top photo L - R:  Hennie, Reinette, Valerie, Stella, Desiree and Lourie.

Mini Re-unions Idea

Where possible, it will be wonderful if people living in the same towns, cities, areas or regions around the world, could get together for mini reunions.  This could include any ex students who attended DHS from 1973 to 1977.

Due to the new POPI  (Protection Of Personal Information Act), I cannot forward the contact details of our school mates to others.  However, anyone willing to arrange such gatherings is welcome to contact me.  With your permission, I will give your contact number to the relevant person / peoples in your area on your behalf.  They will then be able to contact you directly.

Please send photos of your mini reunions to me, so that I can add them to our photo album page.

Thank you so much.

Classmates 1966 to 1977

We are looking for any classmates who began School in 1966 and matriculated in 1977.  Also anyone who joined or left our class in any of these years.

Why this search?  Well, we would like to invite any past students from the English and Afrikaans classes from our school career, to re-connect at our reunion in 2027.

It took 14 years to find most of our matric classmates.  We have less than 2 years to find all our tjommies from a 12 year period.

How can you help?
If you recall a name - we need it.
If you have any contact details - we want them.

The sooner the names are made available, the more time we have to trace them.
The more names we receive, the more we will trace.

Please send any information to matrics77@gmail.com or whatsapp +27 83 270 2226

Thank you

Report Back - Reunion 2017

What a blast!!. The weekend of 20 – 22 October 2017, proved to be a wonderful time of reunion, resulting in many memories been made and friendships re-ignited.

On the Friday, a braai was held at The Lantern (DHS) which was attending by those who had already arrived in Dundee.  The Saturday was spent at Talana Live, which in itself added much flavor to the reunion.  After the rugby,  dinner was enjoyed at The Shed.  A group of 47 people consisting of Students, Spouses and Teachers enjoyed an evening of good food, memories and much laughter. On the Sunday morning, many of a group met at the top of Impati to admire the view and spend a few minutes in prayer before the final good-byes were exchanged.  Truly, this was a successful reunion of an exceptional group of people.

Teachers:  Mrs Kassier, Mrs Wade, Mrs Abrahams and Mrs Bazuidenhout

WattsApp Groups Updated

The whatsapp group "DHS Matrics 77" took off like a fighter jet.  So much chatter, newsy updates and teasing. People behaving as they did at school, proving that in fact, no body has changed!!

For those who are not able to handle so many messages, we have a new group dedicated to our 50th Reunion in 2027. "1977 DHS - REUNION 50 - 23rd to 26th September 2027 - Dundee SA" which will keep everyone informed of the reunion planning.
Please note:  If you are not on this new group yet, please whatsapp +27(0)832702226.

Friday Night Braai 20 October 2017

Friday Night Braai... What a better way to kick off the Reunion weekend, than with an informal bring-in-braai?
This will offer a fine opportunity to re-establish acquaintances and try to remember names and people before we get into full swing on Saturday.
And what about camp-fire stories?  .. there are many memories to recall.

Venue:  DHS  (to be confirmed)
Date:     Friday 20 October 2017
Time:    to be confirmed

Catering:  Bring n Braai theme but we will inform you of the details a couple of weeks before the braai.  Planning is still in the early stages.

Your Memories of DHS

Please share your memories of DHS with us.  Has a funny incident stuck in your memory all these years? Was there a special sporting event, cultural or choir?  A teacher thrown into the swimming pool?  High-jinks on the sport busses?  Romances?  What about all those things that happened in the hostels?   Whatever your memories may be, please share them with us.  You may write in English or Afrikaans.  Send your memories to me at matrics77@gmail.com and I will post them on the Blog.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Missing Persons

In recent weeks, with your help, we have traced a further 8 old schools mates.  The progress is slow but we would like to trace everyone in time, to give them the opportunity to join us at the reunion.  Please read through the list on the right and let me know if you have any idea where any of these people are or where they were the last time you had contact.
Thanks for all your assistance.  From Stella
