My foremost memories of my matric year all revolve around sport. I was in the 1st hockey and tennis team and always think of the awesome bus journeys we had to get to our sporting venue. We always used to leave at about 6 o’clock in those 70 seater buses. The hour drive to Ladysmith/Newcastle/Vryheid and sometimes Estcourt were always a hoot. The best part was that the hockey girls got to sit in the back seats with the 1st rugby team. When the first tennis team and cricket team travelled away there were only 18 of us in that huge bus! Who remembers those hour long assemblies after a rugby match had been won.. and often lost! Old Hermie Kriel used to get so wound up about the rugby team and how special they were that he would “preach” for an hour!! He somehow never spent much time praising the hockey or netball teams!!
Memories of my register class came flooding back as I read through the names of the 1977 matrics. 10e1 register classroom was the Lucy Meakin library. There was a piano there and Vincent Baasch would play classical music for us. What a talent he was! We would have maths there as well. Our teacher was Mrs Nixon. I used to think she was very old and slightly crazy! (That is what my children call me now!!) I still have my full colour blazer, my prefect badge and out prefect tie in my wadrobe. Pity it does not even vaguely fit me anymore. Remember the week-end our class went camping in the berg under the beady eyes of Brian Philips and Jane? Was looking at photos of us all sitting around the camp site. We were all so young and innocent then!!Looking forward to catching up with everyone at the reunion.

During the years 1966 to 1977, a large group of children attended school in Dundee, South Africa. Some arrived after 1966, others left and did not matriculate at DHS. Some attended other primary schools before entering Dundee High School.
Their voices were heard on the sports fields and playgrounds, in the choir and asking intelligent questions in the classrooms.
The hostels were abuzz with students from the farming community, Swaziland and elsewhere.
Friendships were made, some have stood the test of time, others were forgotten as life went on.
That final day....everyone left, followed their dreams, got married, had children and grandchildren....many are now retired...
We need to re-connect. Therefore, we are searching for anyone who was in school with us through the years, to invite them to our 50th reunion in Dundee in 2027, and mini reunions in towns, cities and regions throughout the world..
